Lively and expressive on the palate, with very fine bubbles and a crisp mousse that gives the wine energy and precision. Bright red fruit flavours combine with fresh acidity and a gentle structure, creating a sparkling wine with balance, elegance and a long, persistent finish.

The grapes for this sparkling rosé are carefully harvested in several passes to ensure optimal ripeness and balance.

They are transported to the winery in small perforated 15 kg boxes to protect the fruit and preserve freshness. After destemming, the grapes undergo a short period of skin maceration before gentle pressing, allowing the wine to gain its delicate colour and subtle structure.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of around 14 °C, helping to maintain the purity of the fruit and the wine’s bright aromatic profile.

Produced using the traditional method, the wine undergoes a second fermentation in bottle and is aged on its lees for around four years. This extended ageing contributes complexity, finesse and a fine, persistent mousse while enhancing the wine’s depth and texture.

After maturation, the wine is disgorged without the addition of sugar, resulting in a Brut Nature style that highlights the purity and natural character of the grapes. The result is a sparkling rosé with precision, freshness and elegance, expressing both the craftsmanship of the producer and the distinctive character of the Bairrada region.

João Póvoa started producing wines in 1991 with Quinta de Baixo, being the first individual reference producer in the municipality of Cantanhede. Since 2005 the company is called Kompassus, and today it still has a philosophy of wine production based on family roots and traditions. It is dedicated to the production of wines of excellence sustained by production methods and viticulture practices with minimum intervention. The company is owned by João Póvoa, an ophthalmologist by profession, but a farmer out of passion. The enthusiasm for wine started when he was only 8 years old, and since then the Bairrada terroir is part of his life, the soils, the climate and its grape varieties. Baga as the main variety of the region is his passion and the base for all its red and sparkling wines. Much of the grapes are still today from old vines over 70 years old. They are essentially wines of small productions, in practice they are 30 years of dedication to wine production. His family was already producing wines in Bairrada, and it was from his mother and father that João Póvoa learned the first secrets of this region and developed a passion that followed him throughout his life. Over the years, extraordinary wines have arrived on the market, today, true relics, wines that exhibit finess, refinement, concentration, depth. Those who cause real pleasure. And for these attributes, multiple recognitions and important distinctions of merit have been achieved since 1991.

Do I have to pay Import taxes?

Absolutely not. The price you see is the price you pay.

We import our wines directly from Portugal and store them in our UK warehouse. All taxes are paid in advance, including UK excise duty and import duty.

There are no additional charges on delivery.

We ship throughout the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland and selected offshore areas.

Delivery charges vary depending on postcode. Mainland UK (England, Wales and most of Scotland) qualifies for our standard delivery rates. Certain areas, including Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Jersey, Guernsey and other remote postcodes, have different delivery charges. There is no minimum order value. You are welcome to order as little or as much as you like.

However, due to courier weight limits and the safe transport of glass bottles, maximum bottle quantities apply per order depending on the delivery location.

All orders are fulfilled by our warehouse partner, Wine Logistics, and delivered via APC Overnight’s dedicated wine delivery network. Unlike standard parcel services, wine shipments are handled by hand at every stage to help ensure they arrive safely.

Delivery times are estimates and may occasionally vary due to weather conditions, peak periods or courier delays.

Can I track my order?

Yes, you can track your order here.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email confirming shipment along with your tracking number so you can follow your delivery online. If you provide a mobile number at checkout, you may also receive SMS updates from the courier.

On the day of delivery, APC will send a notification confirming your parcel is out for delivery. Please note that this message confirms the parcel has left the depot and is scheduled for delivery that day. It does not necessarily mean the driver is heading to you immediately. Please refer to the estimated delivery window provided.

After receiving your delivery notification, you can manage your delivery directly with the courier. This may include:
- Leaving delivery instructions
- Requesting delivery to a neighbour
- Rearranging the delivery date

Please note that instructions such as leaving the parcel outside the front door or in a safe place are not permitted. As we sell alcohol, all deliveries are age restricted and must be received in person.

If delivery is unsuccessful, the courier will normally attempt delivery twice before the parcel is returned to us.

What if there’s no one at home?

Please note that deliveries are made throughout the day. We recommend choosing a delivery address where someone is likely to be available to receive the order.

You will receive advance notification from the courier confirming your delivery date, followed by a delivery window on the day itself. This allows you to plan accordingly or rearrange the delivery if needed.

If you are not usually at home during the day, you may wish to use an alternative address, such as your workplace, a family member’s home or a trusted neighbour.

What payment methods can I use?

You can pay for your order using whichever method is most convenient for you. We accept credit and debit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay and Shop Pay.

Do you accept returns?

Refunds

We offer a 30 day return policy. You must request a return within 15 days of receiving your order. Once your return is approved, you will have a further 15 days to send the item back. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item is faulty or incorrect.

We will notify you once we have received and inspected your return. If approved, your refund will be processed to your original payment method within 10 business days.

Please note that it may take additional time for your bank or card provider to process the refund.

To be eligible for a return, the item must be in the same condition in which you received it, unused and in its original packaging. You will also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
