As a Portuguese national living in the UK for 30 years, the wines of my homeland never truly left me.

They lived in the valleys of Minho, rested quietly under Alentejo skies, and poured freely at family tables in the Douro. Finding those same wines here was always a challenge. So instead of searching, I began sourcing - not from catalogues - but from dirt tracks, vineyard whispers, and winemakers who still believe wine is something you feel before you taste.

After years of sharing wines and ideas with a close Portuguese friend with remarkable knowledge of wine, the vision became a reality. Sat together, we created a plan: to build a company that brings Portugal’s best wines directly to British wine lovers.

Are your wines already in the UK?

Yes. All of our wines are imported directly from Portugal and stored in our UK warehouse.

This means faster delivery, no customs delays and no additional import charges. The price you see is the final price, with all duties and taxes already included.

Do I have to pay Import taxes?

Absolutely not. The price you see is the price you pay.

We import our wines directly from Portugal and store them in our UK warehouse. All taxes are paid in advance, including UK excise duty and import duty.

There are no additional charges on delivery.

Where do you ship to in the UK?

We ship throughout the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland and selected offshore areas.

Delivery charges vary depending on postcode. Mainland UK (England, Wales and most of Scotland) qualifies for our standard delivery rates. Certain areas, including Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Jersey, Guernsey and other remote postcodes, have different delivery charges. Please refer to our Shipping Policy for full details.

All orders are sent to the address provided at checkout, so please double-check your shipping details to avoid delays.

If you are ordering from outside the UK, you may still place an order provided the delivery address is within the UK. For European deliveries, please contact us and one of our EU associates will be happy to assist.
Order Quantities and Size Limits?

There is no minimum order value. You are welcome to order as little or as much as you like.

However, due to courier weight limits and the safe transport of glass bottles, maximum bottle quantities apply per order depending on the delivery location.

Standard UK Zones

Maximum 24 bottles per order.

Remote Scotland Mainland

Maximum 12 bottles per order.

Scottish Remote and Offshore Areas, including the Isles of Scilly

Maximum 12 bottles per order.

Northern Ireland, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey

Maximum 12 bottles per order.

These limits are in place to ensure safe handling and secure delivery.

How long is delivery?

Mainland England and Wales

Next working day for orders placed before 12pm.

Central Scotland

1 to 2 working days.

Remote Scotland and Offshore Areas

2 to 3 working days.

Islands and Northern Ireland

3 to 5 working days.

All deliveries are made via APC.

Delivery times are estimates and may occasionally vary due to weather conditions, peak periods or courier delays.
Can I track my order?

Yes. Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email confirming shipment along with your tracking number so you can follow your delivery online. If you provide a mobile number at checkout, you may also receive SMS updates from the courier.

On the day of delivery, APC will send a notification confirming your parcel is out for delivery. Please note that this message confirms the parcel has left the depot and is scheduled for delivery that day. It does not necessarily mean the driver is heading to you immediately. Please refer to the estimated delivery window provided.

After receiving your delivery notification, you can manage your delivery directly with the courier. This may include:
- Leaving delivery instructions
- Requesting delivery to a neighbour
- Rearranging the delivery date

Please note that instructions such as leaving the parcel outside the front door or in a safe place are not permitted. As we sell alcohol, all deliveries are age restricted and must be received in person.

If delivery is unsuccessful, the courier will normally attempt delivery twice before the parcel is returned to us.
What if there’s no one at home?

Please note that deliveries are made throughout the day. We recommend choosing a delivery address where someone is likely to be available to receive the order.

You will receive advance notification from the courier confirming your delivery date, followed by a delivery window on the day itself. This allows you to plan accordingly or rearrange the delivery if needed.

If you are not usually at home during the day, you may wish to use an alternative address, such as your workplace, a family member’s home or a trusted neighbour.
What payment methods can I use?

You can pay for your order using whichever method is most convenient for you. We accept credit and debit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay and Shop Pay.

If you would prefer to pay by bank transfer, just get in touch and we will be happy to provide the details.
Do you accept returns?

Refunds

We offer a 30 day return policy. You must request a return within 15 days of receiving your order. Once your return is approved, you will have a further 15 days to send the item back. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item is faulty or incorrect.

We will notify you once we have received and inspected your return. If approved, your refund will be processed to your original payment method within 10 business days.

Please note that it may take additional time for your bank or card provider to process the refund.

To be eligible for a return, the item must be in the same condition in which you received it, unused and in its original packaging. You will also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

To request a return, please contact us at info@portugalbestwines.co.uk. Items sent back without prior authorisation will not be accepted.

Damages and Issues

Please inspect your order upon delivery and contact us immediately if the item is damaged, defective or incorrect. We will assess the issue and resolve it as quickly as possible.

Exchanges

If you would like to exchange an item, the simplest way is to return the original item once approved and place a new order separately.
