Bright, medium-intensity ruby in colour, this wine from the Dão region reveals expressive and elegant aromas showing fresh red fruit aromas of raspberry and strawberry complemented by a subtle herbal note that rise invitingly from the glass.

Fresh, linear acidity and smooth tannins on the palate create excellent balance. The wine displays wonderful harmony throughout with a moderate length, crisp and fruit-driven finish.

Perfect with Italian, poultry and red meats.

Portal da Estrela is produced in the Serra da Estrela sub-region of Dão, an area known for granite soils, altitude and Atlantic influence. These conditions allow grapes to ripen slowly while maintaining natural acidity, a hallmark of wines from this historic Portuguese region. The wine is crafted by winemaker Tiago Macena of No Rules Wines, whose work focuses on expressing the authenticity and identity of the Dão terroir.

Each grape variety is vinified separately, using gentle extraction methods to preserve the purity and freshness of the fruit. Fermentation takes place under controlled conditions before the wines are transferred to concrete tanks, where they develop structure while maintaining clarity of varietal expression.

The final blend is assembled in the spring following harvest, after which the wine continues ageing in concrete to allow the components to integrate. Before bottling, the wine undergoes light fining and filtration, ensuring stability while preserving balance and freshness.

If you’re outside the UK and interested in purchasing our wines for delivery within Europe, please contact us, and one of our EU associates will assist you.

You can also place an order from outside the UK if the delivery address is within UK mainland (England, Scotland and Wales).

Delivery takes between 2-5 business days, depending on your location. We strive to deliver as soon as possible; however, delivery times are estimates and may vary based on unforeseen circumstances, including weather or carrier delays.

We will let you know when we dispatch your order, enabling order tracking whenever applicable.

You will receive an email confirming dispatch and informing you of the tracking number you may use to keep an eye on your order. On delivery day, you will get a text message from the carrier, confirming he has left the warehouse – this does not mean he/she will be heading immediately your way, so please do observe the scheduled time of delivery.
