About this Winery
The name comes from Grandfather, but it is his son and grandchildren who are boosting the wines of this beautiful farm in the Douro, helped by the well-known winemaker Luís Pato. The project began in 2008, and today, Quinta do Pôpa brings together 14 hectares of vineyards, made up of a mixture of noble red grape varieties, all letter A, including Tinta Roriz, accompanied by Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Sousão and Malvasia Preta, with Touriga Nacional standing out in a large percentage, in addition to the three hectares of old vines over 60 years old. A project based on a family structure, which unites different generations, which is reflected in the production process itself, in which the most sophisticated techniques are reconciled with centuries of rigorous tradition, such as winemaking through foot treading in granite presses at a controlled temperature; and in building a brand with personality and quality, created through its history and the harmonious marriage between the land and the climate that its terroir has to offer.
