About this Winery
The history behind Casa de Sarmento goes back to the year of 1980, when a restaurant specialized in ""Suckling Pig Roast"" was born in the heart of the Bairrada Demarcated Region. In the next twelve years a chain of restaurants was implemented.
With subsequent acquisitions of three properties, one in Avis, the other in Castelo de Vide, both located in the Alentejo and the third in Mealhada, Bairrada, Casa de Sarmento could thus be assumed as self-sufficient in agricultural, livestock and quality wines production.
Up to 2005, the wines of Casa de Sarmento were exclusively marketed in the restaurant chain, but from then on, 600 000 bottles a year were introduced in external and foreign markets. Since it embarked on this adventure, the wines of the Casa de Sarmento won prizes and medals in various competitions. Eight gold medals, fourteen silver and nine bronze, which further highlight the quality of the excellent wines that Portugal has been producing in these last few years.
