Ponte de Lima

The Adega Cooperativa de Ponte de Lima - ACPL - was founded in 1959 and started operations in 1962. With its headquarters at Rua Conde de Bertiandos, in the town of Ponte de Lima - the oldest town in Portugal - the winery currently has an installed capacity of eleven and a half million litres, to which correspond twenty-three thousand pipes.

The Adega Cooperativa, being the institutional expression of about 2000 producers, their families and workers, is undoubtedly the most relevant structure in the municipality of Ponte de Lima.

In 1998, Adega Cooperativa de Ponte de Lima obtained the Quality Certification by the NP EN ISO 9001 Standard, awarded by APCER - Portuguese Certification Association, thus becoming the first cooperative winery in the country to have this certification. In 2009, the transition process to the NP EN ISO 9001:2008 Standard was successfully accomplished. In November 2011 APCER carried out a follow-up audit and the certificate was renewed for another year, depending on its results.

ACPL is part of the sub-region of Lima, one of the nine sub-regions of the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region which, due to its natural soil and climate characteristics and the grape varieties it has, produces very different wines, but all with common characteristics, medium alcoholic, fruity and fresh.

The wines from the Adega Cooperativa de Ponte de Lima are the result of the vinification of perfectly ripe grapes of regional varieties. In the white wines, Loureiro has a special expression for its magnificent adaptation to the terroir"" of Ribeira Lim."
