The producer, tasting note published in 10/11/2022

A renewing project for the Vinho Verde region that showed that unloved grape varieties could be as interesting as the most famous varieties and that prejudices can be questioned, taking biodynamic agriculture to one of the climates where it would apparently be less advisable. And above all, producing good wines that are a pleasure to drink.
Fresh and inviting, full of fruit aromas (citrus and some peach), bay leaves, linden flowers, tense and very clean. Good mineral load, direct, on the palate showing itself with fruit (citrus, peach) and candy, with a beautiful acidity effect, refreshing the palate with each sip with a good dryness in the background.

About this Winery

Casal do Paço, in Vasco Croft's family since the 17th century, has the soul of an old Quinta and was the starting point for the Aphros project. The farm spreads over almost 20 hectares of land and woodland, six of which are vineyards and four chestnut orchards. In the centre is a 16th-century granite house with two floors and its chapel. The winery, on the first floor, dates back to the house's origins.
In October 2006, the first biodynamic process was implemented, marking the beginning of something that would transform the estate and its wines.
Now, Casal do Paço is recognised as an ecological winemaking model committed to the preservation of its ecosystems, which includes not only the vineyards, but also entire forests of acacias, oaks, eucalyptus and century-old trees, and is home to wild boar, foxes and eagles.
