About this Winery

Quinta das Arcas was born in the 1980s, the result of the vision of Esteves Monteiro, who continued the work started in the previous decade to modernize the family's agriculture. With a focus on land consolidation and the implementation of modern viticulture, in 1985 it launched the first bottles under the Arca Nova brand.

Since the beginning, the company has prioritized production quality, combining innovation with respect for the environment. This commitment led, in 2012, to the launch of Quinta das Arcas' first organic wine, produced in approximately 200 hectares of vineyards in the Vinhos Verdes Region.

At the turn of the century, the company expanded to Alentejo. At Herdade Penedo Gordo, located in a unique microclimate in the Borba region, the 120 hectares of vineyards that surround the modern winery produce excellent wines, consolidating the estate as an Alentejo reference.

With an annual production of around 2.5 million liters, Quinta das Arcas is today an example of innovation and tradition, ready to conquer new markets and bring quality wines to the world.

I lectured in Portugal during the ‘70’s, ‘80’s and ‘90’s.
‘ The Vinho verdhe from Moncao was an absolute favourite which I enjoyed greatly in the Fado houses of Alfama . The Muralhas is not only a nostalgic reminder of good friends but a reminder of the guality and extreme drinkability of one of the great historic wines of Portugal.

Luxuriously delicious

This excellent wine was on the menu at Crossroads Kitchen and we loved it there. I have since had three bottles and so pleased with it, such good quality for the price!
