The producer, tasting note published in 10/03/2022

The colour is light and lively. On the nose it reveals the character of Baga and Bairrada in a fresh and floral profile, with notes of aromatic herbs and red fruits. In the mouth it is round, light and fresh. It ends almost spicy and with a light astringency that gives it personality. This is an uncomplicated wine for any occasion.

About this Wine

In 2021 we had some unforeseen rains, which implied some difficulties in controlling the appearance of diseases. However, our viticulture was always under control.
With a spring with heat peaks, the grapes ripened earlier, which led to an early harvest.
The white wines started on 26 August and the red wines finished on 26 September.
It was a good year, which is characterised by a balanced acidity, a high colour intensity and a lower alcohol content than the previous year. This year the wines from Quinta de Baixo are fresh and very elegant.

The NAT COOL 2021 comes from several parcels of old vines. It was vinified in stainless steel where it fermented for 5 weeks. Malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel where it was aged until bottling. It was bottled unfiltered.

About this Winery

The Niepoort family has been creating Port Wines since 1842. The first property in Douro was bought in 1987 and Dirk Niepoort started a new Era in the company with the creation of the first Redoma red in 1991. In the last years Niepoort took on the great challenge of interpreting other soils and climates and acquired two properties in other regions, Dão and Bairrada. Discover the Niepoort Triangle which express the different terroirs: Schist (Douro), Limestone (Bairrada) and Granite (Dão).
