This white wine was produced using a minimal intervention winemaking approach and is naturally cloudy as it ferments in the bottle. It is not intentionally clarified, and the colour is lemon yellow with subtle greenish tones.
Its aromas are reminiscent of the wines that were once produced in the Vinho Verde region, with hints of yeast, citrus fruit, peach and herbaceous notes. The palate has a marked acidity, a delicate mousse that makes it vibrant and some saline flavours on the finish. This is an intentionally uncomplicated wine: shake the bottle slightly before opening and enjoy with traditional Portuguese snacks!

About this Wine

Nat Cool, naturally "cool and funky," is an innovative concept created by Niepoort, a movement of unity among various producers with the aim of creating light and easy-to-drink wines. We have created a wine, reminiscent of the "cloudy" wines of yesteryear, which were bottled very early still with some residual sugar and in the presence of fine lees, to referment in the bottle and generate carbon dioxide.

Vinification: Nat Cool grapes are mostly from the Lousada sub-region. Vinification is done in the old-fashioned way, allowing the last grams of sugar to ferment in the bottle, with the fine lees. Malolactic fermentation also occurs in the bottle.

Ideal with snacks such as codfish cakes, pastries, sausages, among many other Portuguese snacks.

About this Winery

The Niepoort family has been creating Port Wines since 1842. The first property in Douro was bought in 1987 and Dirk Niepoort started a new Era in the company with the creation of the first Redoma red in 1991. In the last years Niepoort took on the great challenge of interpreting other soils and climates and acquired two properties in other regions, Dão and Bairrada. I lectured in Portugal during the ‘70’s, ‘80’s and ‘90’s.
‘ The Vinho verdhe from Moncao was an absolute favourite which I enjoyed greatly in the Fado houses of Alfama . The Muralhas is not only a nostalgic reminder of good friends but a reminder of the guality and extreme drinkability of one of the great historic wines of Portugal.
