The producer, tasting note published in 27/04/2024

This is an excellent example of a dry white from the Douro, fresh without being overly floral or fruity, consistent and easy to please everyone. On the nose, it reveals a fresh Douro with predominantly citrus and herbal notes. On the palate, it is balanced and structured. It finishes with excellent acidity and almost spicy!

About this Wine

To express the Douro's character in this white, we went up in altitude in search of vineyards with indigenous grape varieties, planted in mycasista soils and presenting the true rocky character of this valley. Through fermentation, in stainless steel vats, we looked for complexity and lightness. Luís Afonso's illustration tells stories on the labels of Diálogo since the first edition. The year 2018 was a fresh year until August, with the coolest July in the history of the XXI century. The maturation of the vine was about 3 weeks behind the year 2017. In the first days of August there was a sharp rise in temperature: August 4th was the warmest day of the 21st century (to date) and the ripening of the grapes proceeded slowly during September. Due to the water stress imposed, the plants originated musts with low alcohol content and good phenolic maturation. The grapes come from vineyards between 350 and 500m in altitude, aged between 15 and 55 years. After refrigerated transport to the Quinta de Naples, they were entirely selected on the table of choice, followed by a whole bunch pressing in a pneumatic press. After cold static decantation, they were passed to a stainless steel vat, having spontaneously fermented at a controlled temperature. It aged in its fine lees for 6 months, without lifting them.

About this Winery

The Niepoort family has been creating Port Wines since 1842. The first property in Douro was bought in 1987 and Dirk Niepoort started a new Era in the company with the creation of the first Redoma red in 1991. In the last years Niepoort took on the great challenge of interpreting other soils and climates and acquired two properties in other regions, Dão and Bairrada. Discover the Niepoort Triangle which express the different terroirs: Schist (Douro), Limestone (Bairrada) and Granite (Dão).
