About this Wine

Herdade de São Miguel was the first line of wines created by Casa Relvas. These wines are produced exclusively from grapes from the Herdade and reflect all the dedication with which we have been working over the last few years.

Herdade de São Miguel Colheita Seleccionada is a wine produced in line with past editions, a wine with very ripe fruit, soft tannins and plenty of elegance. A wine that demonstrates its origins well and which has won more than 100 gold medals since its first harvest in 2003. Mechanical harvest during the night. Total destemming. Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 48 hours. Temperature-controlled fermentation (22ºC -28ºC) in stainless steel vats. Post-fermentation maceration for 5 to 10 days. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats with French oak vats. Ageing of 50 % of the wine in 400 litre French oak barrels for 4 months.

About this Winery

Casa Relvas was born out of the desire to continue the history of a family connected to the earth over five generations on two continents. This family project was started in 1997 in São Miguel de Machede, in Redondo, by Alexandre Relvas, who saw the vast horizons of his roots in Africa at the São Miguel Estate. His passion for the Alentejo and respect for its unique and genuine nature led to the first step being the typical foresting of the montado. But it was in the vineyard, a culture with over 2000 years of history in the region, that we discovered our vocation.
