About this Wine

After a selection of the best Azal grapes, they are harvested and well ripened and vinified using the most modern technology. Total destemming. Ligeria pressing and fermentation with temperature control and without resorting to oenological products in order to preserve the typical aromas of the grape varieties.

About this Winery

Quinta das Fontaltas, with origins in 1626, is located in Resende, on 25 hectares of a south-facing slope, opposite the Monastery of Cárquere, in the Douro Region in northern Portugal. It belonged to a Corte Real noble family but has remained in the Namora family for three centuries. In its agricultural history, the productions of wine, olive oil, fruits and vegetables stand out. After several decades of abandonment and inadvertent fallowing, the new generation, already in the XXI century, begins the recovery of the Quinta, highlighting the planting of vines in almost half the area. This vineyard has a genetic heritage of over 390 years, making its wines unique".

I lectured in Portugal during the ‘70’s, ‘80’s and ‘90’s.
‘ The Vinho verdhe from Moncao was an absolute favourite which I enjoyed greatly in the Fado houses of Alfama . The Muralhas is not only a nostalgic reminder of good friends but a reminder of the guality and extreme drinkability of one of the great historic wines of Portugal.

Luxuriously delicious
