About this Winery
Adega Cooperativa de Alijó, based in the heart of Portugal’s Douro region, is a long-standing cooperative with its own winemaking and bottling facilities. Its portfolio includes table wines, Ports, Tawnies, sparkling wines, and a distinctive range of Moscatel labels such as Moscatel d’Ali Job, Moscatel Moscatine, and Moscatito.
Benefiting from steep schistous slopes and a climate ideal for expressive wines, the cooperative crafts whites from native grapes like Viosinho, Rabigato, and Moscatel Galego Branco, preserving freshness and aromatic elegance.
Its signature Moscatel, recognized as D.O.C. since 1907, is made by interrupting fermentation with grape brandy and allowing a three-month skin maceration. This process yields a wine with rich color, tropical aromas, and honeyed depth, delicious served chilled as an aperitif or alongside dark chocolate and egg-based desserts.
