About this Winery
When you drink our wines, you drink memories and achievements. Lives are celebrated, people are honored. Our wines have a strong personality, just like our people.
A character made in the image of our founder, Amadeu Abílio Lopes. In the middle of the 20th century, he headed to Brazil and, as a result of an unbreakable spirit, established himself as a reference industrialist. A success that never shook the desire for a return.
He returned and saw, for his land, the same horizons that he had challenged. He launched the challenge to other children of Melgaço: to take the Alvarinho that is made here to the world.
The Quintas de Melgaço company was then born, uniting hundreds of small and medium-sized wine producers around a greater good: their wine. United, in one movement, to promote the potential of the region's wines and the Alvarinho grape variety.
An important driver of community development that, from Melgaço, opens the doors to the world."

I lectured in Portugal during the ‘70’s, ‘80’s and ‘90’s.
‘ The Vinho verdhe from Moncao was an absolute favourite which I enjoyed greatly in the Fado houses of Alfama . The Muralhas is not only a nostalgic reminder of good friends but a reminder of the guality and extreme drinkability of one of the great historic wines of Portugal.
A safe and quick delivery. The wine is delicious, perfect as a light drink at lunch or with cheese or fish. Really enjoyed it! Will buy more.

Those delightful apricot, peach, citrus and floral notes are satisfyingly intense in the flavour. A delicious wine. I’ve ordered another bottle.
