About this Wine

The Kompassus Reserva Tinto 2019 is made from grapes from old vines, aged between 50 and 90 years, planted in clay-limestone soil, in a temperate Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influence.

Manual harvest in the first week of October with perforated 15kg crates. Fermentation in stainless steel lagares with extended skin maceration, followed by aging in used French Oak barrels of 400L and 700L for 18 months.

About this Winery

João Póvoa started producing wines in 1991 with Quinta de Baixo, being the first individual reference producer in the municipality of Cantanhede. Since 2005 the company is called Kompassus, and today it still has a philosophy of wine production based on family roots and traditions. It is dedicated to the production of wines of excellence sustained by production methods and viticulture practices with minimum intervention. The company is owned by João Póvoa, an ophthalmologist by profession, but a farmer out of passion. The enthusiasm for wine started when he was only 8 years old, and since then the Bairrada terroir is part of his life, the soils, the climate and its grape varieties. Baga as the main variety of the region is his passion and the base for all its red and sparkling wines. Much of the grapes are still today from old vines over 70 years old. They are essentially wines of small productions, in practice they are 30 years of dedication to wine production. His family was already producing wines in Bairrada, and it was from his mother and father that João Póvoa learned the first secrets of this region and developed a passion that followed him throughout his life. Over the years, extraordinary wines have arrived on the market, today, true relics, wines that exhibit finess, refinement, concentration, depth. Those who cause real pleasure. And for these attributes, multiple recognitions and important distinctions of merit have been achieved since 1991.

Do I have to pay Import taxes?

Absolutely not!

The price you see is the price you pay 😊

We import our wines directly from Portugal and store them in our UK partner warehouse.

This means that all taxes including excise (UK wine tax), import duty and VAT are paid for.

Where do you ship to in the UK?

We currently ship to addresses within Mainland United Kingdom.

All orders will be sent to the address provided at checkout, so please double-check your shipping details to prevent any delays.

Unfortunately, we do not deliver to Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands currently.

If you’re outside the UK and interested in purchasing our wines for delivery within Europe, please contact us, and one of our EU associates will assist you. 

You can also place an order from outside the UK if the delivery address is within UK mainland (England, Scotland and Wales).

How long is delivery?

Delivery takes between 2-5 business days, depending on your location. We strive to deliver as soon as possible; however, delivery times are estimates and may vary based on unforeseen circumstances, including weather or carrier delays.

Can I track my order?

We will let you know when we dispatch your order, enabling order tracking whenever applicable.

You will receive an email confirming dispatch and informing you of the tracking number you may use to keep an eye on your order. On delivery day, you will get a text message from the carrier, confirming he has left the warehouse – this does not mean he/she will be heading immediately your way, so please do observe the scheduled time of delivery.

Orders will be dispatched only upon payment confirmation.

What if there’s no one at home?

Please note that our delivery service operates “throughout the day,” so we recommend choosing an address where someone is usually available to receive the order. If you’re not home often, consider using an alternative address, such as your workplace, a family member’s home, or a neighbour’s address.

What payment methods can I use?

You can pay for your order using your preferred method! We accept Credit cards, Debit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay and Shop if you have a Shop account. If you prefer to pay by bank transfer, please get in touch with us for details.

Do you accept returns?

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 15 days after receiving your item to request a return. Customer is responsible for return shipping costs

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
